Austrian courts sentence young offenders for Vienna robbery and Tulln photo‑distribution case

An 18‑year‑old student was convicted by the Vienna Regional Court and sentenced to a five‑year prison term, of which 20 months must be served, for robbing an 85‑year‑old pensioner at a tram stop in April. He took the victim’s handbag containing €4,020 in cash; the woman suffered a broken left shoulder joint and ongoing pain. The court cited the offender’s young age, a guilty plea and remorse as mitigating factors.

In a separate case, the District Court of St. Pölten sentenced a 20‑year‑old man to a conditional six‑month prison term for possessing and forwarding sexualised images of a 13‑year‑old girl from the Tulln district. He was ordered to pay €1,000 in damages to the victim, while a second defendant received community service and a €200 payment. Both judgments were final and no appeals were filed.
