Austrian Cultural Programs Expand in Slovenia and Serbia

The Slovenian Cultural and Information Centre (SKICA) in Vienna marked fifteen years of activity in 2026, highlighting its role in promoting contemporary Slovenian art through partnerships with Austrian galleries, museums and festivals. Director Aljaž Arih emphasized the importance of on‑the‑ground networking and personal contacts with local institutions, noting that SKICA relies on collaborations rather than its own venues.

In Serbia, the Cultural Centre Vršac, together with the Austrian Cultural Forum, organized an Austrian Culture Week from 14 to 19 August 2026. The programme featured two exhibitions – “Učena lepota,” showcasing Serbian women educated in Austria at the turn of the 20th century, and a Gustav Klimt display – as well as a series of film screenings covering Austrian literature, art and documentary works.
