Austrian cup matches disrupted by fan protest and referee assault

During a Kärntner KFV‑Cup replay, youth supporters of SV Gurk unfurled a banner reading “Tod und Hass dem SCL” aimed at opponents SC Launsdorf. The original first‑leg match had been abandoned at 2‑1 because of a thunderstorm, and Launsdorf refused to appear for the rescheduled fixture, claiming the association’s decision was a mistake, according to Launsdorf chairman Erich Erlacher.

In a separate ÖFB‑Cup tie, referee Christian Heiner became the focus of a dispute with Traiskirchen club chairman Werner Trost after a previous season’s match, during which Trost pushed the official to the ground. Trost received a ten‑month suspension from football duties. The match also marked the return of Bleiburg to the national cup after a 15‑year absence, facing Traiskirchen in the first round.
