Austrian darts star Martin Kisela named to national team for Europe Cup

Martin Kisela, a 47‑year‑old darts player from Wiesen in Austria’s Burgenland region, has been selected for the Austrian national team to compete at the WDF Europe Cup in the Faroe Islands at the end of September. The nomination marks the pinnacle of a career that began after the 2007 World Championship final between Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld sparked his interest in the sport.

Kisela, a professional plasterer, trains up to five times a week for at least one and a half hours per session, saying, “Ich trainiere immer gezielt auf ein Event hin.” His dedication has paid off: he recorded three “nine‑darters” this year, a perfect leg completed with the minimum nine darts, a feat rarely achieved even by top players.
