Austrian driver fined after accidentally entering Hungary

A 56-year-old woman from Lower Austria was issued a fine of 152.80 euros after unintentionally driving into Hungary due to missing an exit on an Austrian highway. While attempting to run errands in Burgenland, the driver was unable to turn around and was forced to continue across the border.

Months later, she received a notification requesting payment for a missing Hungarian e-vignette. The notice stated that failure to pay within 60 days would result in the fine increasing by approximately 200 euros. Following the incident, the woman expressed her frustration with the situation and stated she had since sold her car.
