Austrian girl saves father after life-threatening hornet sting

Eight-year-old Lilly Brunner saved the life of her father, Josef Brunner, after he suffered a life-threatening anaphylactic shock caused by a hornet sting. The incident occurred on August 20 in Imbach, Austria, while Josef, a district commander for the Red Cross Krems, was gardening.

After being stung in the forehead, Josef experienced rapid physical decline, including heart palpitations and sweating, before losing consciousness. Lilly acted decisively by staying on the line with emergency services and using her Apple Watch to alert her mother, Marie-Jeanne Brunner, a general practitioner and emergency physician.

Upon arriving home, Marie-Jeanne was able to provide a life-saving injection before Josef was transported to the Krems Clinic. Josef, whose blood pressure had dropped to 50/30, credited his daughter's calm and efficient response for his survival.
