McLaren cleared of penalties following Austrian Grand Prix
FIA stewards ruled that Liam Lawson would not receive a penalty for crossing the white line at the pit exit during the Austrian Grand Prix after determining the breach was technically valid but justified by the circumstances. Lawson finished ninth, earning a second consecutive points finish.
Oscar Piastri was summoned to the race stewards over allegations of driving too slowly during his reconnaissance laps. After reviewing telemetry and video evidence, the FIA concluded that Piastri complied with the required time limits and issued no sanction, leaving his fourth‑place result intact. Team principal Andrea Stella explained that a crack in Norris’s brake duct caused a temporary issue for the British driver, who finished seventh.
McLaren highlighted the progress shown at the Red Bull Ring, with Piastri’s fourth place and Lawson’s points finish keeping the team in the upper ranks of the constructors’ championship.
