Austrian Ministry of the Interior conducts heavy vehicle inspections
The Austrian Ministry of the Interior held its 12th basic training for heavy vehicle control officers in Weiz and at the Ilztal traffic control site. The program, which ran from September 28 to October 9, 2026, involved 20 participants from seven Austrian federal states.
During practical training days on October 7 and 8, officers inspected 54 heavy vehicles, including buses, animal transports, hazardous goods carriers, and waste transporters. The inspections resulted in 233 violations regarding driving and rest times, 151 technical deficiency reports, and 28 cases of inadequate load securing.
Authorities prohibited 39 vehicles from continuing their journeys and confiscated license plates from 32 vehicles. Notably, two buses were stripped of their plates due to technical defects that posed an immediate danger. Approximately 65,000 euros in provisional security payments were collected during the operation.
