Austrian mountain railways launch summit charter for sustainable tourism

The Best Austrian Summer Mountain Railways has issued the “TOGETHER ON THE MOUNTAIN – Experience, Enjoy, Preserve” summit charter. This initiative aims to promote responsible behavior and coexistence among the diverse groups of visitors using alpine regions, including hikers, mountain bikers, climbers, and paragliders.

The charter establishes clear guidelines for guests, such as waste prevention, respectful treatment of grazing animals, and consideration for other visitors. This effort is part of a broader 25-year quality and sustainability initiative involving 84 member businesses and 101 themed mountains. The initiative also supports climate-friendly travel through collaborations like the KlimaTicket Österreich.
