Austrian police arrest suspected Czech serial burglars
Police in Upper Austria have apprehended three suspected serial burglars from the Czech Republic. The group is accused of eight offenses targeting farms in the Urfahr-Umgebung and Freistadt districts since May, resulting in approximately 12,000 euros in damages. Stolen items included motorcycles, chainsaws, and various tools.
In one unusual development, investigators noted that the 27-year-old primary suspect was wearing an electronic ankle monitor from the Czech justice system while committing the crimes. The suspect was reportedly required by Czech authorities to be at his home address at specific times, yet he was able to travel to Austria to carry out the thefts.
The arrests occurred in Reichenthal following a pursuit after a farmer spotted the suspects attempting to collect a stolen motocross motorcycle. Two men are currently being held in the Linz judicial institution, and a 25-year-old female accomplice has been identified.
