Austrian police find missing 23‑year‑old from Tetovo dead in Faakersee
A 23‑year‑old man from the village of Saraqine near Tetovo in North Macedonia, identified as an ethnic Albanian who owned a café in Faak am See, was reported missing on Monday. He was last seen in Drobollach at around 17:00.
A large‑scale search was launched on Saturday after items belonging to him were found on the shore of the Faakersee lake near Villach. The operation involved police, fire‑fighters, water‑rescue divers, and a police helicopter. Divers from twelve rescue teams and two professional fire‑fighter divers worked the lake until about 20:00, eventually recovering his body at the far end of the lake. Austrian authorities have ordered an autopsy as the cause of death remains unclear.
