Austrian Power Grid to host information fairs for grid expansion

Austrian Power Grid (APG) and project partner Netz Burgenland GmbH (NEB) will host 12 regional information fairs from September 14 to October 1, 2026. These events aim to inform citizens, residents, and stakeholders in eastern Lower Austria and northern Burgenland about the ‘Netzverstärkung Ost’ project.

The initiative involves expanding 380-kV and 110-kV grid infrastructure to ensure a reliable electricity supply and meet the growing energy demands of the region's industry and society. The fairs will present current planning stages, including planned routes and mast locations, with experts in environmental, legal, and technical fields available for consultation.

Additionally, distribution network operators Netz Niederösterreich and Wiener Netze will provide information on their own regional projects. The environmental impact assessment submission is scheduled for late 2027, with construction expected to begin in 2030.
