Austrian ski stars Tschofenig and Eichberger return injury‑free for early summer

Kärntner ski jumper Daniel Tschofenig announced he is finally injury‑free after two seasons hampered by injuries and will compete in the summer Grand Prix in Courchevel, France, starting more than a month earlier than the previous year. The venue, which hosted the 1992 Olympic ski jumping events, is slated for further adaptation ahead of the 2030 Winter Games.

Alpine downhill skier Stefan Eichberger, who underwent cruciate‑ligament surgery in December, posted a video of himself skiing at the foot of the Matterhorn, saying his knee feels normal and he plans to race again. Eichberger, seen as the future face of Austria’s men’s downhill team, previously recovered from a similar injury in 2022 and is eager to re‑establish his place in the national squad.

Both athletes’ comebacks highlight the Austrian ski federation’s focus on restoring its top talent ahead of the upcoming competitive season.
