Austrian Study Evaluates Teambuilding in School Time-Out Groups
A master's thesis by Svjetlana Janjušević, supervised by Hans Karl Peterlini and published in Klagenfurt in June 2026, investigates a game‑based approach to improve social competencies among students participating in school Time‑Out groups. The study centres on a self‑designed game called Blind‑Parcours, used to assess teamwork, communication, empathy, conflict resolution and self‑confidence.
Data were collected through participant observation, student feedback, a structured interview with the supervising teacher and the researcher’s own field notes, employing triangulation of perspectives. The thesis discusses the relevance of social learning in the school setting, highlights challenges such as discipline and emotional regulation, and offers practical recommendations for the targeted use of group‑pedagogical methods in inclusive education.
