Austrian team wins gold at European Young Gardeners Championship

An Austrian team of three young gardeners has won gold at the 11th European Young Gardeners Championship held in Bielsko-Biała, Poland. The winning team consisted of Marie-Theres Schwaiger, Anika Hiermann, and Alina Lichtenwallner, who represented Austria against 22 teams from 12 different nations.

The competition, held under the motto ‘Let’s Grow Together’, required participants to demonstrate expertise in production horticulture, floristry, and garden and landscape construction. Success depended on a combination of theoretical knowledge, manual precision, and teamwork over a three-day period.

Following the victory, Marie-Theres Schwaiger was officially received by Styrian Governor Mario Kunasek at the Grazer Burg. Kunasek presented her with a certificate and a commemorative coin, praising the achievement as an outstanding feat of diligence and professional passion. This victory marks a repeat of Austria’s success in the category, following a previous gold medal won by an Austrian women's team in Würzburg two years ago.
