Austrian Technical Apprenticeship Programs Boost Skills and Employment

In July 2026 Austrian students from TFBS Kufstein visited the ÖBB training workshop in Innsbruck and the Dessl Maschinenbau plant in Stans, gaining insight into modern metal, electrical and mechatronic apprenticeships. The visits highlighted how specialised machinery is produced in‑house for the pharma and food sectors.

At the same time, the bfi Köflach training centre, in cooperation with AMS Voitsberg and BEST BeschäftigungsgmbH, completed a cohort of adult learners in metal and machining technology. Several graduates passed their final exams and secured immediate employment with regional manufacturers. Project leader Sabine Wittmann said, "Jeder erfolgreiche absolvierte Lehrabschluss steht für Engagement, Ausdauer und Mut, neue Wege zu gehen."

Both initiatives illustrate Austria's effort to address skilled‑labour shortages by offering practical, industry‑linked vocational education.
