Austrian Traded Index closes slightly lower as OMV and Porr face losses

The Austrian Traded Index (ATX) closed slightly lower on Friday, ending the session at 6,543.45 points, a decrease of 0.26 percent. While other European markets saw gains driven by easing in oil and bond markets, the ATX faced pressure from specific heavyweights.

OMV saw its shares drop by approximately 2.9 percent. A trading update indicated that state-mandated solidarity contributions in Austria and Romania are expected to impact OMV’s third-quarter 2026 results by between 150 million and 200 million euros. Despite this, the company reported strong performance in fuels and energy production, though a lack of crude oil supplies from the Middle East resulted in a 100 million euro burden.

Other notable movements included a 3.8 percent decline in Porr shares following the announcement of a share buyback program of up to 15 million euros. Conversely, Voestalpine was a top performer, gaining 5.19 percent. AT&S also contributed to the index's decline with a loss of nearly 3 percent.
