Austrian unions warn of rising violence against train conductors

The Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) and the vida union have issued a warning regarding massive violence against train conductors. A survey conducted in Tyrol among 119 employees revealed that one in three workers has already experienced physical attacks.

Union officials report that aggression, threats, and physical assaults are becoming part of the daily routine for transit staff. The psychological impact is significant, with workers reporting stress, anxiety, and potential post-traumatic stress disorder. The survey indicated that one in five respondents does not intend to continue in their profession within the next five years due to these conditions.
