Austrian Workers' Chamber recovers €6.6 million in tax credits
Over a nine‑week period the Austrian Workers' Chamber (Arbeiterkammer) tax team in Carinthia assisted 8,798 taxpayers, securing more than €6.6 million in refunds. The campaign ran in two phases (2 Mar‑3 Apr and 4 May‑30 May) and included extensive outreach on how to claim deductions for training costs, care expenses, commuter allowances and the Family Bonus Plus.
Examples highlighted by AK President Günther Goach include a 94‑year‑old care‑pensioner who received an €8,000 credit after adding undisclosed medical and pharmacy costs, and a single mother of three who obtained roughly €3,500 by claiming the single‑earner allowance, child‑additional amount and multi‑child surcharge. The Chamber also offers online calculators, forms, brochures and instructional videos to aid future filings.
Goach noted that the introduction of two‑factor authentication for FinanzOnline in October 2025 had initially complicated access, but the Chamber's education campaign helped most users navigate the new system.
