Austrian Youth Join Erasmus+ Exchanges in Spain and Sicily
In May 2026, five Austrian primary‑school pupils from classes 6A and 6B, accompanied by teachers Mag. Marlene Hailzl‑Guger and Mag. Andreas Wippel, visited the town of Utebo near Zaragoza, Spain. The group worked with Croatian and Spanish peers on sustainability topics, including phone recycling, a clothing swap, a tour of Zaragoza’s historic centre, a visit to a local waste‑recycling plant, a dodgeball workshop, and a nature outing in the Glachos Juslibol National Park where they made soap.
From July 13‑20 2026, youths from the Open Youth Work Mäder programme in Vorarlberg travelled to Palermo, Sicily, for an Erasmus+ exchange. They participated in workshops on waste, water scarcity and sustainable living, visited the Ecomuseo Mare Memoria Viva, explored the botanical garden, created cyanotype art, and toured the archaeological park of Selinunt. Both trips emphasized intercultural dialogue and environmental awareness.
