Austria’s 2026 Dragon Boat and Sailing Championships draw national and international competitors

On July 25, 2026 the charity "Gemeinsam im Boot" dragon‑boat race took place in Steyr on the Enns River, featuring 26 teams. The WRC Pirat crew placed 12th in the mixed category, while the women’s team Vienna Pink Dragons & Friends secured first place.

From Thursday to Sunday the Union‑Yacht‑Club Attersee hosted the Austrian State Championship of the Dragon sailing class on the Attersee. Twenty‑eight boats with 87 sailors competed over four days, with international guests allowed to race but only Austrian crews eligible for the national title. The Austrian trio of Peter Resch, Justin Kurz and Willibald Hauer won the national championship, while the Portuguese team claimed the international title.

Both events highlighted the enduring popularity of dragon‑class water sports in Austria, combining high‑level competition with community engagement.
