Austria's FREIRAD celebrates 25 years with jingle contest as Radio FRO discusses media education

Community radio FREIRAD in Tirol marks its 25th anniversary in 2027 by launching a Jubiläums Jingle Wettbewerb. The contest, open to participants aged 18 and older, invites submissions of a 58‑second original jingle that mentions the station’s 25‑year history. Entries are accepted from 14 September to 14 November, and the winning piece will be unveiled on World Radio Day, 13 February 2027, then aired regularly throughout the anniversary year.

On 25 August 2026, Radio FRO aired a special program, FROzine, on media education in Austria. Guests Simon Moser and Johannes Knierzinger of the Forum Medienbildung discussed the role of digital basic education, challenges posed by social media, AI‑generated misinformation, and the need for stronger media‑literacy curricula in schools.
