Austrian police identify teen train‑surfer after Koralmbahn incident

On Saturday a group of three youths, including a 19‑year‑old from Vienna, climbed onto an ICE train traveling on the Koralmbahn and hid on the train's exterior. The train was forced to stop in the Koralmtunnel, prompting a full closure of the 32.9‑km tunnel while ÖBB staff and police searched for the perpetrators. Using high‑resolution video surveillance and an anonymous tip, police identified the Viennese teen, interrogated him in Vienna and charged him with endangering the physical safety of passengers. Two of the suspects were captured and handed over to authorities; the third remains at large. ÖBB supplied extensive video recordings from the railway and tunnel to the investigation, and the railway operator said the suspect may also face compensation claims for damages incurred during the incident.
