Austria's dollar‑millionaires near 200,000, up 21% in record year
Capgemini’s 2025 World Wealth Report notes a global surge in high‑net‑worth individuals, with 25.3 million people holding at least US$1 million in investable assets and total wealth rising 8.7 % to $98.3 trillion. The United States leads the increase, followed by Japan, Germany and China, which together account for two‑thirds of the world’s millionaires.
In Austria, the number of dollar‑millionaires grew by 21 % to almost 200 000 (exactly 196 000), and their collective wealth reached $564 billion. The rise is attributed to strong performance in equity markets, especially technology and artificial‑intelligence stocks, and favourable inflation and interest‑rate conditions that boosted returns for affluent investors.
The report highlights that wealthy Austrians, like their global peers, have shifted more of their portfolios into equities, raising the share of stock holdings to 25 % and also benefiting from solid bond returns.
