Austrotherm enters negotiations to acquire Etex XPS business

Austrotherm, a company under the Schmid Industrieholding, has entered exclusive negotiations to acquire the extruded polystyrene (XPS) business from Etex. The deal involves the production and distribution activities of the URSA brand across four European countries: Germany, Italy, France, and Spain.

The acquisition includes four specific production sites located in Queis (Germany), Bondeno (Italy), El Pla (Spain), and Saint-Avold (France), as well as sales operations serving customers in West and Central Europe. The transaction is subject to standard regulatory approvals and conditions.

For Etex, the sale is part of a strategic move to optimize its manufacturing network and focus its insulation portfolio on glass wool. For Austrotherm, the acquisition represents a significant milestone to expand its presence in Western Europe and strengthen its core XPS technology and growth strategy.
