Author Herman Koch reveals Parkinson's diagnosis

Dutch author Herman Koch has announced that he is suffering from Parkinson's disease. During an appearance on the talk show Eva, the 73-year-old writer of the bestseller ‘The Dinner’ explained that he had experienced balance issues for several years, which he initially attributed to medication for prostate cancer.

Following a consultation with a GP and a neurologist, prompted by changes in his handwriting, the diagnosis was confirmed. Koch stated that he is currently using medication to aid dopamine production, which has improved his mood and reduced restless dreams, though his mobility remains largely unaffected.

In addition to Parkinson's, Koch disclosed in 2024 that he is being treated for metastatic prostate cancer. He noted that his condition remains stable according to recent scans.
