Author Miquel Martorell Publishes Book on Santa Eugènia Heritage

Miquel Martorell Ramis, a native of Santa Eugènia on Mallorca, released a book inspired by a 2024 visit to the ses Coves house. The work is divided into three sections: the first explores the archaeology of the Puig, describing prehistoric burial caves, stone‑roofed huts, and the ancient quarry whose marble was used by the Tauja people to build local homes. The second recounts the village’s sole cinema, which operated from 1956 to 1962; it was founded by Martorell’s father together with Toni Morey of Sóller and later also ran the cinema in Lloret. The final part gathers gloses and popular songs that Martorell collected during his childhood, preserving the oral traditions of Santa Eugènia and pre‑tourism Mallorca.
