Nigerian‑American author Tomi Adeyemi announced on TikTok that she will not watch or promote the upcoming Paramount Pictures adaptation of her bestselling YA novel *Children of Blood and Bone*. Citing personal pain and attacks behind the scenes, she said she is “officially separating” herself from the project. Adeyemi, who serves as an executive producer and co‑writer, also shared a screenshot of a message to star Amandla Stenberg instructing the actress not to use her name in interviews.
The film, directed by Gina Prince‑Bythewood and slated for release on 15 January 2027, features an ensemble cast that includes Thuso Mbedu, Idris Elba, Regina King and Viola Davis. Adeyemi emphasized that she still cares about the story’s readers, stating “I will always care about us, more than any glitter.”
