Authorities arrest Dominican nationals in US and Puerto Rico

Law enforcement agencies have apprehended two Dominican nationals in separate incidents involving criminal allegations in the United States.

In Puerto Rico, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), working with US Marshals and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), arrested Ana Tahiri Acevedo Brito. Acevedo Brito was wanted in the Dominican Republic for alleged murder and was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice. Authorities report she entered Puerto Rico irregularly and worked as a caregiver, with additional suspicions regarding the financial exploitation of elderly individuals.

In New York, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has requested the immigration detention of D’Angelo Rafael Jean Caraballo and Sneider Mejía Bautista. The two men were arrested in connection with the October 2 stabbing of an off-duty NYPD detective in the Bronx. ICE noted that both individuals had previous encounters with U.S. Border Patrol and were facing immigration proceedings or deportation orders.
