Authorities arrest woman for selling dog meat in Bolivia and suspect in Costa Rica
In El Alto, Bolivia, a woman was apprehended at the Río Seco entrance for allegedly selling dried meat (charque) made from dog and fox meat. Authorities seized various meat pieces, two skulls, and animal limbs. The municipal Secretary of Citizen Security, Elio Pacheco, stated the suspect may face charges of crimes against public health and biocidio. While the woman claimed the remains were fox and intended for medicinal use, officials are awaiting laboratory results to confirm the species.
In Costa Rica, authorities arrested a 29-year-old woman, identified as the niece of extradited individual Edwin López Vega (alias ‘Pecho de Rata’), on Route 27 in Santa Ana. The intervention began as a traffic stop but escalated when officers detected a strong odor of drugs. A canine unit confirmed the presence of narcotics, and investigators subsequently seized approximately 7,175,000 colones in cash along with electronic devices. The woman is a suspect in a money laundering investigation linked to the ‘Riverside’ narcotics case.
