Authorities close businesses in Bananeiras and Solânea following inspections

A joint inspection operation in the municipalities of Bananeiras and Solânea, Paraíba, has resulted in the closure of a restaurant and the re-closure of two other establishments. The operation was conducted by the Consumer Prosecution Office (MP-Procon) in partnership with the State Health Surveillance Agency (Agevisa-PB), the Military Fire Department, and the Military Police.

Inspectors identified numerous sanitary and consumer protection violations. Key issues included the sale of expired products, improperly labeled spirits, and inadequate hygiene conditions. Specific sanitary irregularities noted by Agevisa-PB included the absence of sanitary permits, improper food storage, lack of technical documentation, and unverified water potability.

In a second phase of the operation, five additional establishments, including supermarkets and pharmacies, were cited. Findings included irregular product fractionation, divergent expiration dates, and poor cleanliness of floors and freezers. Additionally, inspectors noted accessibility failures regarding shopping carts for people with disabilities and expired fire safety certificates at one location.
