Authorities conduct security and sanitary operations for Halloween celebrations
Law enforcement and health officials have launched operations to ensure safety and compliance during Halloween festivities. In Costa Rica, the Fuerza Pública initiated an operation to maintain order during Halloween and the Day of the Costa Rican Masquerade. During the first night, officers seized weapons, ammunition, drugs, and cash in several locations, including San José, Grecia, and Palmares. Authorities plan to increase surveillance near bars, shopping centers, and cemeteries.
In Arequipa, Peru, health officials from the Gerencia Regional de Salud (GERESA) and the Provincial Municipality of Arequipa seized Halloween masks and plastic accessories near the San Camilo market. The seizure occurred because merchants could not provide required sanitary registration documentation. Officials warned that unregulated toys and accessories might contain hazardous substances like lead. Merchants have seven days to present the necessary documentation or face product destruction.
