Authorities dismantle separate marijuana plantations in Spain and Equatorial Guinea

Law enforcement agencies have dismantled two distinct marijuana plantations in separate operations.

In Villena, Spain, the Guardia Civil uncovered a cultivation site hidden inside a residence located near an educational center. The operation, prompted by local residents reporting a strong odor, resulted in the arrest of two men, aged 26 and 52, on suspicion of drug trafficking and money laundering. Authorities noted the high level of concern regarding the plantation's proximity to a school frequented by minors.

In the Añisok district of Equatorial Guinea, security forces discovered a plantation camouflaged within an agricultural farm in Nselang. The grower, Antonio Edjugan, had strategically planted cassava and other staples in the front of the property while hiding marijuana among peanut crops in the rear to evade detection. Edjugan claimed the illegal activity was driven by unemployment and the need to support his family. The seized plants were destroyed on-site.
