Authorities find labor exploitation signs in Alphen and Den Haag

During the Week Against Human Trafficking, the Hague Economic Intervention Team (HEIT) and the Netherlands Labour Authority conducted unannounced inspections at several locations in Den Haag and Alphen aan den Rijn. The operations aimed to detect human trafficking and labor exploitation.

In Den Haag, inspectors identified violations of the Foreign Employment Act (Wav), the Minimum Wage and Minimum Holiday Allowance Act (Wml), and the Working Hours Act (Atw). Authorities also found evidence that some employees may have been working without required permits, and police seized 2,980 illegal cigarettes at one site.

In Alphen aan den Rijn, investigations revealed indications of minimum wage violations and prohibited child labor. The findings are currently under investigation. If confirmed, the violations could lead to fines, municipal administrative measures, or criminal investigations.
