Bogotá man jailed for murdering and sexually abusing his mother

Authorities in Bogotá have judicialized Cristian Leonardo Pinzón Méndez for the aggravated femicide and sexual abuse of his 64-year-old mother in the Kennedy locality. The crime occurred on July 14.

According to the Fiscalía General de la Nación, Pinzón Méndez attempted to conceal the crime by using the victim's mobile phone to send WhatsApp messages and photographs to her relatives. In these images, the victim appeared to be wearing a face mask to hide severe facial injuries, creating the illusion that she was alive but recovering from an illness.

Investigations revealed that the victim had been subjected to a cycle of domestic, psychological, and physical violence by her son for approximately ten years. Pinzón Méndez faces charges of aggravated femicide, aggravated violent sexual intercourse, and the concealment or destruction of material evidence. Although he did not accept the charges, a judge has ordered his detention in a correctional facility while the judicial process continues.
