Authorities in Corrientes and Parral address crime and corruption allegations

In Corrientes, Argentina, the Rural and Ecological Security Directorate (PRIAR) has denied claims that 400,000 hectares of land have been abandoned due to cattle rustling. Commissioner Gerardo Torres stated that crime maps do not support such figures, noting only 150 reported livestock thefts in the jurisdiction. To combat crime, the provincial government will add 30 new patrol vehicles equipped with mobile internet to allow real-time verification of livestock documentation. Additionally, administrative requirements for moving cattle have been eased to assist producers dealing with flooding caused by El Niño.

In Parral, Mexico, municipal authorities are investigating the use of over one million pesos paid to a food supplier that cannot be located. Syndic Dalila Villalobos reported that invoices issued by Jazmín Aracely Alcalá Meraz for various municipal departments were found to be inconsistent, as inspections of the registered business address yielded no evidence of food sales. Unofficial reports suggest a potential link to a restaurant owned by Mayor Salvador Calderón, though no public documentation has confirmed this connection. A formal complaint will be filed to determine if the services were rendered and if the payments were legal.
