Mexico City police arrest man transporting white Bengal tiger cub

Authorities in Mexico City arrested a 30-year-old man, identified as José Luis “N”, for the illegal transport of an endangered white Bengal tiger cub. The incident occurred in the Iztapalapa borough near the Central de Abasto (CEDA) following a citizen report regarding a feline seen in a vehicle.

During the intervention, the driver attempted to evade police officers but was intercepted. He was unable to provide any legal documentation or permits to prove ownership or authorization for the transport of the animal. The cub, a female approximately four months old, was assessed by the Animal Surveillance Brigade (BVA) and placed under protective custody.

The tiger is scheduled to be handed over to the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa). The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) to face federal investigations regarding the possession and trafficking of protected wildlife.
