Authorities investigate separate child welfare incidents in Paraguay and Peru
In Coronel Oviedo, Paraguay, an 8-year-old boy has been placed under the provisional care of a local woman following allegations of family abuse. The child reportedly refused to return to his mother's home, stating he was being mistreated. The Public Defender's Office for Children and Adolescents intervened to formalize a protective measure while investigations continue.
In Chorrillos, Peru, authorities are investigating the violent death of an 18-month-old boy found in the Vista Alegre de Villa settlement. The child's body showed signs of injury, and the mother is currently in police custody. During the investigation of the residence, which lacked basic utilities and security, police discovered two other minors in vulnerable conditions and coordinated their immediate transfer for protection.
