Authorities investigate separate deaths in Paraguay and Costa Rica

In Encarnación, Paraguay, authorities are investigating the death of 45-year-old American citizen Amy Loretta Ellis. Her body was discovered in an apartment at the Salto Grande building after building staff reported an unpleasant odor. Preliminary police reports suggest the death may have been caused by a heart attack, as no obvious signs of violence were observed on the deceased, who had legal residency in the country.

In San José, Costa Rica, the Judicial Investigation Department (OIJ) is investigating the death of a 57-year-old Canadian woman identified by the surname Gariepy. The individual passed away at an aesthetic clinic in the México neighborhood. While authorities have not confirmed a cause of death, reports indicate she may have been attending a follow-up appointment related to an aesthetic procedure performed earlier in October.
