Authorities issue non-bailable warrants against former officer and political leader in India
Authorities in India have issued non-bailable warrants (NBW) against two separate individuals facing criminal allegations.
In Odisha, a non-bailable warrant was issued against Sujit Kumar Das, a suspended former police station IIC. Das is accused of sexual assault and rape. The Odisha High Court recently rejected his anticipatory bail, directing him to surrender. The Crime Against Woman (CAW) cell of the Odisha Crime Branch is currently conducting raids, including at his Bhubaneswar residence, to apprehend him.
In Rourkela, police obtained an NBW against suspended BJP leader Prakash Paswan. Paswan is accused of involvement in the Circuit House controversy, specifically for allegedly using political influence to harbor criminals at a government-managed facility. Paswan, who reportedly has 17 criminal cases against him, is being sought by police teams across Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh. Additionally, the Rourkela Steel Plant has reclaimed an executive flat previously allotted to Paswan's NGO following violations of lease conditions.
