Authorities monitor unauthorized rave party near Libiola

An unauthorized rave party involving approximately one thousand young people from Italy and abroad is taking place in the floodplains of the Po River near Libiola, a hamlet of Serravalle a Po. The gathering, organized via encrypted messaging apps like Telegram, has caused significant local disruption, with hundreds of vehicles parked on roadsides, in fields, and blocking private access points.

In response, the Prefect of Mantova, Roberto Bolognesi, convened an emergency meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security. Authorities, including the Carabinieri, State Police, and Guardia di Finanza, have established a constant presence in the area. Law enforcement is using helicopters for aerial monitoring and has set up checkpoints to control access and prevent further influx of participants.

Authorities have opted for a strategy of containment and monitoring rather than immediate forced dispersal, citing high risks to public safety and the natural environment if a large-scale eviction were attempted. Investigations are underway to identify the organizers and hold them accountable for the illegal occupation of private land.
