Authorities move to seize California ranch linked to CJNG leader

Federal authorities are working to seize a nearly five-acre ranch in Hemet, California, linked to Juan Carlos Valencia Gonzalez, identified as the new leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Valencia Gonzalez, also known as ‘El Pelon,’ reportedly inherited leadership of the organization following the death of Nemesio ‘El Mencho’ Oseguera Cervantes.

The property, purchased in 2011 for $250,000, has seen its value triple since acquisition. A former tenant, a local horse trainer who identified himself only as Hector, stated he rented the land for $1,500 a month via cash payments to Valencia Gonzalez’s uncle. Hector noted he was asked to vacate the premises several weeks ago.

Residents in the Riverside County area have expressed fear following the discovery of the cartel leader’s local ties. The U.S. Department of Justice began the process to confiscate the property in late July, as the CJNG is designated as a terrorist organization by the U.S. Department of State. A $25 million bounty is currently offered for Valencia Gonzalez.
