Authorities search for missing former Santa Marta mayoral candidate

Jorge Luis Agudelo Apreza, a lawyer and former mayoral candidate for Santa Marta representing the Fuerza Ciudadana movement, has been missing since Monday, October 26, in Barranquilla.

Agudelo left his residence in Santa Marta around 6:00 a.m. and traveled by taxi to Barranquilla. His last contact with his wife was at 10:00 a.m., when he confirmed he had arrived at a meeting. Following the formal report of his disappearance, authorities began investigating a credit card transaction that occurred after his last messages, though it is not yet confirmed if the purchase is linked to his whereabouts.

Santa Marta Mayor Carlos Pinedo has announced a reward of up to 50 million pesos for information leading to Agudelo's location. Senate President Honorio Henríquez has also called on authorities to provide updates on the search.
