Authorities search Mercado Morelos for missing woman
Authorities in Puebla are conducting operations at Mercado Morelos to locate 41-year-old María Luisa Trinidad Velázquez, who disappeared after visiting the market earlier this week. Her family reported her missing after GPS data from her mobile device indicated her phone was still active within the market premises.
Agents from the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) and State Police conducted a search of a food establishment within the market. While unofficial reports suggest one person was detained during the operation, no official identity or motive has been released. The investigation faced interruptions when a group of individuals, allegedly linked to a group known as ‘Los Toscano’—which is reportedly associated with market control and extortion—intervened to prevent authorities from completing their actions.
The family previously reported that local security officials were hesitant to enter the market due to potential reactions from merchants. They have appealed to the public for any information that could help locate Trinidad Velázquez alive.
