Pánuco police commander arrested for alleged criminal ties
The Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) has arrested Jhonny Cristian 'N', a commander of the Pánuco Municipal Police in Veracruz, for alleged crimes against public security institutions.
The arrest follows an incident on August 10 in the Revolución Mexicana neighborhood. During a police operation involving a high-speed chase and gunfire, officers detained an individual suspected of attacking security forces. During this process, the commander allegedly arrived at the scene and was observed using a radio device to receive simultaneous communications from a criminal group.
Investigations suggest the commander may have received direct orders from a criminal leader via radio to facilitate the release of a detained individual. Authorities have seized the communication equipment for analysis, and the commander is currently awaiting judicial proceedings.
