Authorities seize 17 tons of ration rice near Tamil Nadu-Kerala border
Authorities have seized 17 tons of subsidized ration rice near the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border following a confrontation with a group of individuals. The incident occurred during an inspection by a flying squad led by Tehsildar Bharti in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu.
After a mini-lorry driver allegedly ignored orders to stop, officials pursued the vehicle to a rice warehouse in Inchivila, located on the Kerala side of the border. During the attempt to inspect the premises, a group of people reportedly attacked Revenue Inspector Dinesh and issued death threats before fleeing the scene.
A coordinated raid involving police from both Tamil Nadu and Kerala resulted in the seizure of the entire 17-ton stock. Investigations are currently underway to identify the owners of the shipment, determine its intended destination, and apprehend the suspects involved in the assault and obstruction of official duties.
