Authorities seize large quantities of illegal tobacco and vape products in Pakistan and UK

Authorities in Pakistan and the United Kingdom have conducted significant operations against the illegal tobacco and nicotine trade. In Karachi, customs officials seized 25,000 kilograms of cigarette-making materials. This seizure, which includes items such as cigarette paper, filters, and packaging, represents a strategic shift toward targeting the raw materials used in illegal manufacturing to prevent untaxed products from reaching the market.

In Glasgow, Trading Standards reported the seizure of over 1.4 million illicit cigarettes over a five-year period since 2021. The report also noted the confiscation of 32,366 illegal vapes between 2021 and 2025. Following new legislation, Glasgow authorities have already seized 9,629 single-use vapes in 2026. These enforcement actions coincide with public health concerns in Scotland, where surveys indicate high rates of vaping among youth.
