Authorities seize smuggled Chinese pork products in Thailand and Japan

In separate incidents, authorities in Thailand and Japan have intercepted significant quantities of smuggled meat products originating from China.

In Bangkok, Thailand, the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) and the Department of Livestock Development raided a warehouse in the Bang Khuntien district. Officials seized over 5,000 kilograms of salted pig intestines stored unsanitarily in 36 blue drums. Investigators believe the warehouse served as a distribution hub for restaurants using an online ordering system operated by a foreign logistics company. The suspects face potential imprisonment and fines for unauthorized importation and customs violations.

In Osaka, Japan, police arrested a Chinese national for smuggling approximately 21 kilograms of chicken and pork sausages from Shanghai via Kansai International Airport. The individual allegedly accepted the task through the WeChat messaging app for a reward of approximately 200 yuan (4,800 yen). Such imports are strictly prohibited in Japan to prevent the spread of diseases such as African Swine Fever and avian influenza.
