Authorities seize unauthorized structures in Scala and Scalea

Law enforcement agencies in Italy have conducted operations against unauthorized construction and land occupation in the coastal regions of Scala and Scalea.

In Scala, located in the Amalfi Coast, Carabinieri and local police seized a 50-square-meter aluminum structure with a pergola. The structure, used by a nearby bar, was built without necessary landscape authorization in a historically protected area near the Duomo di San Lorenzo. One individual has been reported to the Salerno Prosecutor’s Office.

In Scalea, the Coast Guard discovered that a private concessionaire had illegally occupied over 1,400 square meters of maritime state property by expanding beyond authorized boundaries. During the inspection, officials also found an 80-square-meter illegal waste dump containing various materials in direct contact with the soil. The concessionaire has been reported to the Paola Prosecutor’s Office for violations regarding maritime navigation codes and environmental regulations.
