Authors present new works on personal memoirs and Guanche history
Several authors are scheduled to present new books exploring personal and historical legacies.
In Argentina, José Márquez will present ‘Las huellas de José. 90 años de vida, recuerdos que dejan huella’ on September 24 at La Esquina de La Fábrica in Chascomús. The memoir chronicles Márquez’s life across multiple continents, including his journey from Spain to Guinea, and his subsequent residence in Buenos Aires, Asunción, and Chascomús. The work, transcribed by María Rosana Aguirre, serves as a testimony to a life shaped by migration and labor.
In Spain, author and historian José Farrujia will present ‘Guanches. Relatos de nuestro mundo ancestral’ at La Librería del Cabildo on September 22. The book utilizes archaeological and historical research to reconstruct the lives, beliefs, and social structures of the Guanche people prior to the conquest. Farrujia, a professor at the University of La Laguna, examines how this ancestral culture left lasting imprints on the territory and contemporary memory.
